How to Display Smiski
"The right spot makes all the difference."
The Core Principle: Light & Context
A Smiski display works best when two conditions are met: the figure receives plenty of light during the day (so it can glow at night), and its pose makes contextual sense in its location. A Bath Series figure belongs near the sink. A Working Series figure belongs on the desk. Half the fun is matching the pose to the place.
By Room
Bedroom
The nightstand is the classic Smiski spot. A glow-in-the-dark figure by the bed provides a soft, calm nightlight that charges in the morning sun streaming through the window. Choose a peaceful pose — napping, daydreaming — to reinforce the restful energy.
Home Office / Desk
The @ Work series was born for desk setups. Place them near your monitor, on a keyboard, or beside your mouse mat. They receive strong charging light from your desk lamp and glow gently during late-night work sessions.
Bathroom
The Bath and Toilet series are obviously at home here. The ambient light in most bathrooms is enough to charge them adequately — and they make genuinely charming bathroom-counter decor.
Bookshelf
A bookshelf near a window is an ideal mass display location. Arrange an entire series in a row for a collector's display. The figures charge through the day and glow softly en masse at night — a quiet, glowing tableau.
By Theme
The Complete Series Display: Arrange all figures from one series together on a shelf with the series name as a label. Clean, satisfying, and easy to see which figure is still missing.
The Narrative Display: Group figures across series by "mood" — all the napping ones together, all the working ones together. Tell a story across your shelf without being bound by series.
The Window Garden: Mix Smiski with small potted plants on a bright windowsill. The plants provide light-charging context and the figures nestle naturally among the foliage.
Tips for Long-Term Display
- Dust them gently with a dry microfibre cloth every month or so. The matte texture picks up dust easily.
- Avoid direct harsh sunlight for extended periods — too much direct UV can gradually dull the mint-green colour over years.
- Rotate figures periodically if you have more than you can display at once — it keeps the collection feeling fresh.
